Episodes 1-109 (1984-1987) follow Kenshiro, the successor to the deadly Hokuto Shinken assassination art, wandering a post-apocalyptic wasteland to find his former fiancée Yuria and confront Shin, the man who stole her and left Ken for dead. Along the way, Ken battles a rotating cast of brutal warlords while protecting the weak in a lawless, nuclear-ravaged world.
