What is the Golden Age Arc in Berserk?

The Golden Age Arc follows Guts as a mercenary who joins Griffith's Band of the Hawk, chronicling their rise to glory, Guts and Casca's growing bond, and Griffith's ultimate betrayal of his comrades at the Eclipse — one of the darkest events in anime history.

What is the Eclipse in Berserk?

The Eclipse is the horrifying climax of the Golden Age Arc, in which Griffith sacrifices the entire Band of the Hawk to the God Hand demons to be reborn as the demon lord Femto, brutally killing most of Guts's comrades and assaulting Casca.

Does Griffith betray Guts?

Yes. After being captured and tortured for a year following Guts's departure from the Hawks, Griffith activates the Crimson Behelit and offers his entire former army as a sacrifice to become one of the God Hand — directly causing the deaths of most of the Band of the Hawk and irrevocably breaking Guts and Casca.
