Timid bookworm Ken Kaneki survives a ghoul attack but wakes as a half-ghoul — his organ transplant was from the very ghoul that nearly killed him. He can no longer eat human food. What begins as a horror premiere quickly becomes something stranger: a story about accepting a new identity that society considers monstrous.
