About
Yui is an AI Mental Health Counseling Program created to monitor and support SAO players' psychological states who was deactivated when her programming conflicted with the death-game scenario and the players' extreme trauma exceeded her design parameters. Adopted by Kirito and Asuna as their virtual daughter in the Aincrad Arc, her return as a navigation pixie named Yui in ALO gave her a continued role supporting the couple across every subsequent arc. Her development from program to something approaching genuine personhood, and the family that formed around her, is one of SAO's most unexpectedly touching threads.
