Episodes 1–25. Naofumi Iwatani is summoned to a fantasy world as one of four legendary heroes — but is immediately framed for a crime and stripped of all allies and resources. He rebuilds from nothing, buying a slave girl (Raphtalia) as his only companion and fighting to prove himself despite the kingdom's hostility.
Is The Rising of the Shield Hero filler or canon?
Season 1 is adapted from Aneko Yusagi's light novel series. It is largely faithful to the novels with some condensing.
Season 2 — Spirit Tortoise Arc

Episodes 26–38. A new threat — the Spirit Tortoise, a massive guardian beast — goes berserk and threatens destruction. Naofumi's team must stop it while dealing with a mysterious enemy manipulating events.
Is Season 2 of Shield Hero worth watching?
Season 2 received mixed reviews — the Spirit Tortoise arc feels rushed and introduces and resolves major threats quickly. The animation quality also declined from Season 1. It remains canon and sets up Season 3.
Season 3 — Return of the Bow Hero

Episodes 39–51. Naofumi faces the threat from the "other world" that has been sending the Waves of Calamity. The Bow Hero Itsuki is cured of his corruption, and the team prepares to travel to another world.
