Pell is one of Alabasta's two guardian warriors, wielding the Tori Tori no Mi: Model Falcon which allows him to transform into a massive falcon for devastating aerial combat and high-speed flight. His fierce devotion to the royal family—particularly to Vivi, whom he helped raise—was demonstrated in the most extreme possible way when he carried a massive bomb high into the atmosphere and detonated it to save Alabasta, an act of self-sacrifice that should have been fatal. His survival, though unexplained, is treated as a miracle befitting the character's noble spirit.
