Marco is the former first division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and one of the most powerful pirates in the world, wielding the Tori Tori no Mi: Model Phoenix which allows him to regenerate any wound by transforming into blue-fire phoenix flames. After Whitebeard's death he served as a guardian figure for Whitebeard's homeland Sphinx Island, later joining the Wano alliance as a crucial aerial combatant against the Beast Pirates. His calm brilliance, absolute loyalty to Whitebeard's memory, and near-immortal regeneration make him one of One Piece's most enduring and beloved veteran characters.
