Alvida is the former captain of the Alvida Pirates who terrorized the seas of East Blue until she consumed the Sube Sube no Mi, which makes her skin perfectly smooth and causes all attacks to slide off her frictionlessly while simultaneously transforming her into a slender beauty. After her defeat by Luffy at the very start of the story, she allied with Buggy and later participated in various schemes on the Grand Line. Her transformation from the story's very first named antagonist into a supporting comedic figure—obsessed with Luffy's audacity and her own beauty—gives her a unique place in One Piece history.
