Sasori of the Red Sand is an Akatsuki member and legendary puppet master from the Hidden Sand Village who converted his own body into a puppet to become immortal, turning himself into the ultimate puppet—a person who feels nothing and outlasts everything. The grandson of Chiyo, his art of puppet warfare is so refined that he amassed a hundred puppet army of converted human corpses. His death at the hands of Chiyo and Sakura—pierced by the puppets of his own parents whom Chiyo had kept for him—is one of the series' most achingly bittersweet conclusions.
