Kakuzu is an Akatsuki member with a unique body modified to hold five hearts harvested from powerful shinobi, each granting him an elemental chakra nature and effectively requiring him to be 'killed' five times. The oldest active shinobi in the series, his centuries of life made him a bounty-collecting mercenary who values money above all else—including his partner's lives, which explains why he was paired with the unkillable Hidan. His defeat by Naruto's Wind Release Rasenshuriken marked Naruto's first direct contribution to the Akatsuki's dismantling.
