Yamcha is a former desert bandit and one of the series' original human fighters who began Dragon Ball as one of the world's strongest humans before the Saiyan Saga revealed how far humans fall behind alien power levels. His baseball career post-Cell Games and his comfortable friendship with the group despite no longer being battle-relevant make him one of Dragon Ball Z's most self-aware characters. The Yamcha Pose—his famous dead position from the Saibaman battle—became one of anime's most enduring memes, a tribute to his role as the series' lovably outclassed everyman.
