Final Selection Arc
What episodes are the Final Selection arc in Demon Slayer?
Episodes 1–5. Tanjiro's sister Nezuko is turned into a demon; Tanjiro trains for two years under Urokodaki; he passes the Final Selection exam on Mt. Fujikasane.
Why doesn't Nezuko eat humans?
Nezuko suppresses her hunger through willpower and family love. Urokodaki hypnotized her to see all humans as family and all demons as enemies. She recovers energy through sleep rather than consuming humans — an ability unprecedented among demons.
Natagumo Mountain Arc

Mugen Train Arc

Season 2 episodes 1–7 adapting the Mugen Train film. Tanjiro's group joins Flame Hashira Rengoku to investigate demons aboard a train.
Does Rengoku die in Demon Slayer?
Yes. Akaza (Upper Moon 3) appears after the train battle and mortally wounds Rengoku, who refuses to become a demon. He dies at sunrise in episode 7 — one of the most devastating deaths in anime.
What is Akaza's obsession with strength?
Akaza seeks only the strongest opponents and offers to turn powerful warriors into demons. His obsession stems from a traumatic past — he originally sought power to protect the people he loved but lost them anyway. He fights with genuine respect for strong opponents.

Who are Gyutaro and Daki?
Upper Moon 6 — siblings who share one demon rank. Daki controls hair-like sashes; Gyutaro uses poisonous Blood Sickles and can poison via contact with his blood. Both must be beheaded simultaneously to kill them.
What is Hinokami Kagura (Sun Breathing)?
Tanjiro's family fire dance is revealed to be Sun Breathing — the original and most powerful style from which all other Breathing Styles derived. Tanjiro begins combining it with Water Breathing and eventually masters it fully.
Swordsmith Village Arc
