Shuichi Aizawa is one of the NPA detectives on the Kira Task Force who left temporarily over funding disputes before rejoining, and who—unlike Matsuda—maintained deep skepticism about Light Yagami even as evidence pointed away from him. His persistent doubt, rooted in gut instinct rather than proof, made him the closest the investigation came to someone who intuitively sensed the truth about Light without evidence to act on it. His relief and grief at the resolution of the case, having spent years inside a trap he could sense but not name, made him one of Death Note's most humanly relatable figures.
