Ohgi Kaname is a leader of the Japanese resistance who became one of the Black Knights' most senior members and eventually its de facto commander, a man of genuine conviction for Japanese liberation whose tragic mistake—trusting Villetta Nu and later Schneizel's testimony over Lelouch—led to the Black Knights' catastrophic betrayal of Zero. His love for Villetta and his inability to process the contradictions in Lelouch's methods make him a deeply human figure caught between competing loyalties. His post-war role as Japan's prime minister is both earned and haunted by the cost of how it was achieved.
