His twin zanpakuto Katen Kyokotsu force both him and his opponents into playing children's games that become lethal reality—an ability as unpredictable as it is devastating. His willingness to make the ugliest decisions for Soul Society's survival, paired with his genuine grief at the cost of those decisions, makes him one of the most fully realized characters in Bleach's immense cast.
