Yoshihiro Togashi
Biography
Yoshihiro Togashi is a Japanese manga artist from Yamagata Prefecture who created Yu Yu Hakusho (1990) and Hunter x Hunter (1998), both published in Weekly Shōnen Jump. Hunter x Hunter is widely regarded as one of the greatest manga ever written for its inventive power system (Nen), morally complex characters, and willingness to subvert shōnen genre expectations — particularly in the Chimera Ant arc, which many critics consider the medium's most ambitious story. Togashi is also famous for his series' extremely irregular publication schedule due to chronic back pain, which has left Hunter x Hunter on extended hiatus multiple times across its 25+ year publication history. He is married to Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi. Despite — or perhaps because of — the infrequent chapters, each new Hunter x Hunter release generates enormous reader excitement worldwide.
