Gabi Braun is a Marleyan warrior candidate and Reiner's cousin, a ferociously skilled fighter for her age whose absolute belief in Marley's doctrine and her hatred of 'island devils' drives her into increasingly extreme actions, including killing Sasha and temporarily decapitating Eren. Her transformation across the story—from fervent Marleyan nationalist to someone forced to confront the humanity of those she was taught to hate—mirrors the series' core theme of cycles of dehumanization. Her arc is AOT's most direct examination of how hatred and ideology are taught to children.
